Oliver was born in Germany and began learning the flute at the age of 9. ​

He later received lessons from flautists of the Theatre Augsburg and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, before embarking on his studies at the Hochschule für Music, Saar.

During his undergraduate studies, Oliver participated in an ERASMUS exchange to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to work with Marie-Christine Zupancic, Jonathan Rimmer and Andrew Lane, before graduating in 2016 with two Bachelor’s degrees (in performance and pedagogy). 

 

In recent years, Oliver has participated in numerous competitions and masterclasses throughout Europe, winning 2nd Prize at the 2013 European Competition for Young Soloists in Luxembourg, and working with mentors including James Galway, Susan Milan and Robert Winn.

He has also performed under conductors such as Kurt Masur and held principal flute positions with youth orchestras in Paris, Strasbourg, Brussels, Luxembourg, Berlin and Leipzig. 

 

Oliver is currently studying for his Master’s degree in performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under Marie-Christine Zupancic.

He also appeared as guest 2nd Flute with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and participated in their prestigious CBSO-Training-Scheme 2015/16 and 2017/18. Furthermore he was part of numerous side-by-side projects with the Welsh National Opera Cardiff. ​

Since March 2018 Oliver Wild is the Principal Flutist of the Sun Symphony Orchestra in Hanoi (Vietnam).
